In book publishing, the conventional model of mass-printing books, bulk shipments to distributors and distribution to booksellers is disappearing.
As is the case for the print industry in general, this is being informed by the gradual displacement of conventional print equipment by digital – electrophotgraphic (toner) and inkjet– systems.
Across all print segments in 2015, analogue platforms of all types – litho; flexo; gravure; screen; letterpress; dry offset/relief; pad printing; intaglio – accounted for 86.1%of all print by value, and 97.5% of volume.
